The fix is not obvious. Visit the following links: As few people has mentioned in the forum, its really annoying to fix this problem. Reverse Engineered nForce ethernet driver. If the system is configured with ethtool options on the network scripts, like we currently do, the system will boot with no link. Without blowing smoke, I couldn’t tell you if Intrepid will fix this issue.

Installing nVidia’s nForce network driver HowTo
I’m also curious if you get a link light on the hardware when connecting a cable even though ethtool et al don’t report the link status as ‘UP’. If the system is configured with ethtool options on the network scripts, like we currently do, the system will boot with no link.
There is no win modem support. Hope you will manage to fixe this, i remind you that i’m stil available to test your.
Linux nForce Driver – AMD64|NVIDIA
In response to Stefan Bader’s post: Comment 26 Carlos Avila I’m sorry to hear you are going back to Windows. Is it exactly the same i am using?
They may continue using ubuntu even if some application doesn’t work in the way they want it to, thinking that it can be configured later, but for this kind of bug there is a high probability that they just think that their hardware is just not supported and just give up with linux or ubuntu.
Comment 25 Carlos Avila Any tips to work around this for networkbased installs, like pxe-cobbler? As a result, the kernel team would appreciate it if you could please test this newer 2.
– nVidia MCP55 MCP55 Ethernet (rev a3) not functional on kernel
I tried to make this run every time I log in This is is stored in a plain text file in my documents folder but after sudo su I need to type in my password, So it doesn’t work! Comment 44 Carlos Avila This is a serious, serious problem – look at the amount of mobos with nvidia chipsets!
Are there anybody in addition to me who still experiences the network problems after upgrading linuz 2. With my very limited knowledge in Linux, is there a way for me to try and disable networkmonitor to mco55 this theory?
Are you new to LinuxQuestions. Just a recap of my experience to help anyone who is trying to figure out whether the problem is fixed or not. It seems that I can reload the forcedeth module and everything is back to normal so at least the hardware isn’t mco55 or anything.
linuux Controller is probably using the wrong IRQ. Whatever, I’m just glad someone has a package. But the workaround does not work for me!
IIRC kernel updates rebuild initramfs and pick up the forcedeth options so once you have it working you linuz need to do anything again. Comment 66 Andy Gospodarek First of all, we should unload the forcedeth module: If you would like me to run any tests please let me know and I will post the results.
Right now I’m downloading Linux kernel 2. You should be able to rebuild a kernel pretty easy to test this out. Confirming on Hardy beta; indeed, it’s a kernel actually, forcedeth driver bug.
I’ve been trying for ,inux long-long time to get my network working after suspend. Could someone affected by the bug either upgrade to Intrepid or boot from the live CD to test?
